1)Winona Hauter of Public Citizen, , who explains why her group is urging citizens to write the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to maintain regulations that mandate the clear labeling of foods treated with radiation.

2)Jane Franklin, author of Cuba and the United States, A Chronological History, who talks about Cuba's new medical school which opened in March of this year, with the goal of training 5,000 student doctors from throughout Latin America.

3) Larry Bensky, a veteran broadcaster recently fired from the Pacifica Radio Network, who comments on increasing turmoils at Pacifica and their flagship station, KPFA in Berkeley, California.

1)Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of Nation magazine, who reports from Moscow on the growing tensions between Russia and the United States in the aftermath of the Yugoslav war.

2)Sister Dianna Ortiz, and Ethiopian nationalist Fekadu Eba, torture survivors who participated in a vigil at the White House to protest continued U.S. financial support of countries that violate human rights.

3Tony Hiss, the son of Alger Hiss -- accused of spying for the Soviet Union in the 1950s -- who talks about his family's long struggle to clear his father's name. See background information on Public Citizen's petition drive.

FOR THE WEEK ENDING July 23, 1999

1)Attorney William Schaap, who reports from Cuba on hearings being held in Havana on a $181 billion suit against the U.S. for damages and 3,000 deaths, resulting from a 40-year American campaign to overthrow the Castro government.

2) Hunter College professor and author Mimi Abromovitz, who assesses the Clinton Administration's record on confronting poverty as the president concluded a tour of the nation's poorest regions.

3)Michael Lux, with People for the American Way, who examines the record of Texas Gov. George W. Bush, as he works to cultivate a moderate image while campaigning for the presidency.

1)Kevin Danaher, cofounder of Global Exchange, who examines the underlying causes for income inequality around the world as documented in a United Nations report.

2)Dennis Bernstein, a recently fired news producer at KPFA-FM, the Pacifica Network's radio station in Berkeley, California, who describes recent events which led to a lock out of all staff and a suspension of local programming there.

3)Earl Standberry, Gulf War Veteran, who talks about "Stonewalk," a project where he and other activists are pulling by hand, a 2,000-pound monument from Massachusetts to Arlington National Cemetery, in remembrance of civilians who have died in war.
