Between The Lines
American Revolution Feature

An interview with Paul Lussier, author of the book,
"The Last Refuge of Scoundrels: A Revolutionary Novel"
Produced by Scott Harris.

"The Last Refuge of Scoundrels: A Revolutionary Novel" (Warner Books) is based on 10 years of research into the hidden history and attitudes of common folk during America's Revolutionary War era. The book has been praised by many including award-winning authors Howard Zinn, Studs Terkel, Jonathan Kozol and Robert Coles.

The novel, soon to be made into a motion picture, reveals the class conflicts between the wealthy elite (the Founding Fathers) and average citizens who laid their lives on the line to fight the British monarchy and to build a more just world.

Paul Lussier explains how our nation's revolutionary history has been suppressed and sanitized. He also states why he believes that progressive activists should reclaim this history and use it to inspire their ongoing struggle for social justice in the 21st century.

Paul Lussier majored in critical studies and literature at Yale University. More recently, he has written and produced dramas and documentary films for television. This interview was conducted on July 2, 2001 by Scott Harris on the Counterpoint program, heard every Monday night from 8-10 p.m. on WPKN Radio 89.5 FM, Bridgeport, CT.

LISTEN in RealAudio. Time: 45-minute interview in 3 easy downloadable parts. You can listen to it streaming, for instant playback. Or, download it to your hard drive.
