Award-winning investigative journalist and founder/editor of ConsortiumNews.com, Robert Parry has passed away. His ground-breaking work uncovering Reagan-era dirty wars in Central America and many other illegal and immoral policies conducted by successive administrations and U.S. intelligence agencies, stands as an inspiration to all in journalists working in the public interest.
Robert had been a regular guest on our Between The Lines and Counterpoint radio shows -- and many other progressive outlets across the U.S. over four decades.
His penetrating analysis of U.S. foreign policy and international conflicts will be sorely missed, and not easily replaced. His son Nat Parry writes a tribute to his father: Robert Parry’s Legacy and the Future of Consortiumnews.

Interview with Robert Dreyfuss, author and contributing editor with the Nation magazine, conducted by Scott Harris
The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas government in Gaza, which erupted in the wake of the murder of three Israeli teenagers and the revenge killing of a 16-year-old Palestinian boy, has been costly. More than 193 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, with nearly 80 percent of the dead civilians and more than 20 percent children, according to a July 14 report issued by the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs. The UN also reported that over 1,300 Palestinians have sustained injuries as a result of Israel’s bombardment. Although it’s claimed more than 700 rockets have been launched from Gaza into Israel, as of July 15 only one Israeli civilian has been reported killed, with a dozen more injuries. Israel asserts that Hamas is using civilians as human shields in Gaza by deploying rockets and military posts in residential areas.
Gaza hospitals are reporting a dire shortage of medicine and equipment – and the territory’s water utility has suspended operations due the conflict, placing the water supply for 600,000 people at risk. Seventeen thousand Palestinians in northern Gaza fled their homes following Israeli warnings of impending air strikes.
Following the failure of a proposed Egyptian cease-fire plan on July 15, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel’s military would intensify its offensive against Hamas in Gaza, possibly signaling an imminent ground invasion. Between The Lines' Scott Harris spoke with Robert Dreyfuss, author and contributing editor with the Nation Magazine. Here, he examines the deadly consequences of Israel's disproportionate bombing of Palestinians in Gaza as Hamas fires hundreds of rockets into Israel.
Robert Dreyfuss is author of the book, "Devil's Game: How the United States Helped Unleash Fundamentalist Islam." For more information about The Nation, visit TheNation.com.
