Award-winning Investigative Journalist Robert Parry (1949-2018)

Award-winning investigative journalist and founder/editor of ConsortiumNews.com, Robert Parry has passed away. His ground-breaking work uncovering Reagan-era dirty wars in Central America and many other illegal and immoral policies conducted by successive administrations and U.S. intelligence agencies, stands as an inspiration to all in journalists working in the public interest.

Robert had been a regular guest on our Between The Lines and Counterpoint radio shows -- and many other progressive outlets across the U.S. over four decades.

His penetrating analysis of U.S. foreign policy and international conflicts will be sorely missed, and not easily replaced. His son Nat Parry writes a tribute to his father: Robert Parry’s Legacy and the Future of Consortiumnews.

How to Support
Between The Lines

A message from Between The Lines' executive producer, Scott Harris

Dear Between The Lines Listeners:

In these dark times of extremist policies launched from the White House and the GOP-controlled Congress, it's essential that everyone engaged in The Resistance support independent media outlets that offer honest and piercing analysis – that refuses to wimp out with the typical false equivalencies on the repugnant Trump economic, social and foreign policy agenda. Journalism must go deeper than simple outrage at Trump's daily stream of malicious tweets.

Between The Lines, broadcast on 60 stations across the U.S. each week, has been on the air for over 25 years, and we take pride in the fact that our nonprofit group has produced a weekly show all these years with an all-volunteer collective funded exclusively by our active listeners.

With neo-Nazis, white supremacists, xenophobes, homophobes and misogynists being embraced by Donald Trump and the Republican party, what the nation desperately needs is unapologetic and unambiguous reporting and analysis. We strive to deliver just that each week, with coverage of Trump's rolling disaster and the movements organizing resistance. We focus on the substance of critical policy issues rather than the superficial criticism of Trump's crude style, which too often is the narrow topic of discussion of most corporate media outlets.

Your tax-deductible contribution to Between The Lines during this critical moment in U.S. history will help us purchase the hardware, software and services necessary to upgrade and expand our online and mobile presence, enabling us to reach new listeners in places like Fayetteville, Arkansas; Moscow, Idaho; or Knoxville, Tennessee – areas where Between The Lines is already being broadcast – with reliable, fact-based information critical to the survival of our democracy.

As George Orwell once wrote: "Speaking Truth in Times of Universal Deceit is a Revolutionary Act"... and I think you'll agree that we are unmistakably now living in a time of truly malevolent universal deceit.

We're offering a t-shirt with this Orwell quote as a premium gift to our donors, along with the new book by The Nation's John Nichols, "Horsemen of the Trumpocalypse," Greg Palast's new post-election edition of his investigative report on DVD, "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: The Case of The Stolen Election," and Timothy Snyder's indispensible book for our time, "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century," or George Lakey's "Viking Economics: How the Scandinavians Got It Right, and We Can, Too." Make a tax-deductible contribution and get details on how to get our thank you gifts. See below.

Or, you can mail us a check, addressed to:
