Between The Lines
10th Anniversary CD Special
1991-2001

This year, Between The Lines,
WPKN's nationally syndicated
weekly radio newsmagazine,
celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Between The Lines, launched during the Persian Gulf War, has for over a decade featured news and points of view often ignored or distorted by corporate media.

As part of WPKN's spring 2001 fund drive, Between The Lines is offering listeners a special 10th anniversary audio CD featuring selected interviews with noted analysts and activists covering important issues and events of the last decade.

The Between The Lines 10th Anniversary CD includes in-depth analysis from:

  • Physicist Michio Kaku on the Persian Gulf War and demonization of U.S. "enemies"
  • MIT professor and U.S. foreign policy critic Noam Chomsky, on the myth that U.S. militarization led to the fall of the Soviet Union
  • Father Roy Bourgeois on why he risks his freedom to close the U.S. Army's School of the Americas
  • Political analyst Chip Berlet on the growing power of the Christian Right and how this movement threatens democracy
  • Author Benjamin Barber on the imperial and destructive nature of U.S. consumer culture across the globe
  • Dr. Helen Caldicott on the unreported health effects of nuclear power
  • Marc Mauer of the Sentencing Project on the prison industrial complex
  • Barbara Briggs of the National Labor Committee on U.S. corporations' use of sweat shop labor abroad
  • Z Magazine Editor Michael Albert on the coalition that organized anti-World Trade Organization protests in Seattle and beyond
  • Ralph Nader, Green Party presidential candidate, on his exclusion from the 2000 presidential debate
  • Ron Daniels, Center for Constitutional Rights, on the progressive coalition challenging the Bush agenda in the wake of the 2000 stolen election

The Between The Lines CD can be yours with a $35 pledge to WPKN, listener-sponsored, non-commercial radio during our Spring on-the-air fund drive, starting March 26, 2001.

Just call us at (203) 331-9756 (office) and ask for the Between The Lines Anniversary CD premium and the rest is history, so to speak.

With the rapid disappearance of independent media across the globe, support for community radio that challenges the status quo has never been more important. We know you'll help to preserve the oasis for free speech that is WPKN.
